Originally from Birmingham, Tlws was brought up in Redditch and studied at the University of Wales where she gained a B.A. History and geography before taking an Art Foundation at Milton Keynes College, finally graduating from Buckinghamshire College with a BA(Hons) Ceramic with Glass.

Since 1986 Tlws has held exhibitions throughout the country and has twice taken prizes for her work at the Welsh National Eisteddfod. Amongst her numerous private commissions have been work for the BBC, Aylesbury Vale District Council and the Aylesbury Society.

Tlws is a Full Member of the Milton Keynes Craft Guild, the Northamptonshire Guild of Craftsmen, is secretary of the Contemporary Glass Society and still finds time to teach for Buckinghamshire Education Authority.
