Sue Judd
Born in Derbyshire in 1954, Sue now lives
in Hartwell with her partner. She has over the years experimented with
many crafts. Being most attracted to the medium of clay. While her
three children were growing up, her interest developed. Learning the
basics at evening classes, trying many techniques. Enjoying hand
building, coiling each vessel in a unique shape. Influenced by natural
objects, her stoneware pots are seed heads. Sgraffito is used on the
earthenware pots, her design scratched into the leather hard clay.
After bisque firing, oxides are rubbed into the pattern, and after the
next firing, are finally painted with underglazes and a top glaze. |
