James Bassett As a practising artist / potter James Bassett frequently exhibits nationally. He is a founder member, and former Chairman, of the Northampton Potters with whom he continues to exhibit regularly. He is also a member of the Northamptonshire Guild of Designer Craftsmen. His work has been commissioned by Northampton Museum for it's permanent collection and photographs of his work have been featured in "Ceramic Review". James has worked for the local authority Art Advisory Service contributing Art Education, Ceramics and Graphics material for their teachers in - service programmes. He has made a similar contribution to the SITE programme within the county. He also advises the County Supplies Service on purchasing ceramic materials for schools and is often consulted by them on a variety of technical and materials problems. Whilst best known for his commemorative lead glazed slipware, he works with a wide range of techniques related to traditional pot forms.
