Sarah Vernon
Originally Sarah was a graphic designer, obtaining a B.A. in Graphic Design. She spent twelve years in magazine publishing. In 1997 she decided to change direction and began working with clay. By 1999 she had her City & Guilds in Ceramics and a studio in which to work. Ideas for Sarah's work come from her walks with the dog! She daily watches the activity of boats on the Thames Estuary - fishing boats, cargo ships and yachts are all sources of inspiration. She loves the medium of clay which she rips, stretches and impresses; she paints and splashes the finished boats with coloured slips. Her free, spontaneous approach gives each piece individuality and a sense of fun. |
