Paul Shepherd has been involved in Blacksmithing since 1986 when he began a traditional apprenticeship. In 1990 he set up a workshop with his partner Claudia Petley.

Claudia Petley began working with an amour maker in 1988 in Cornwall. She went on to complete a two year course in Hereford where she developed her interest in repousse.

Their first commission was some detailed work for the gates at Kensington Palace. Although his training focused on traditional work, over the years Paul has developed a keen interest in contemporary style ironwork. Now he is able to combine the two to produce modern work made with the neat attractive joining method that traditional work demands. Claudia has continued to pursue her skills in repousse. She has used those techniques to combine ornate ironwork with raised copper panels.
