Michael Wrigglesworth
I am a full-time artist and I work from a small studio in a small cottage in Barton Le-Clay - blink and you miss it! Everything I do is based upon my experience of witnessing and recording the influence of changing light and atmosphere. Mostly in the countryside but also further a field both in this country and abroad. Although my choice of subjects is wide-ranging and includes for example, flower studies, buildings and interiors, most of paintings are aspects of the landscape. Machines and machinery also figure strongly in my work - not from an engineering or technical point of view but because the shapes and structures interest me. The methods I adopt for painting are uncomplicated and the technique is direct and unfussy. Working in this straightforward way has the advantage of swiftness and spontaneity, which at its best can bring freshness to a painting. - Michael Wrigglesworth |
