My textile pieces give the impression that they have grown organically.....they seem attached to the canvas like lichen. In fact they are painstakingly worked; constructed with layer upon layer of threads, beads and detail. They are rich in colour and texture. The more you look at them the more you can see. "The inspiration behind my recent work is nature's coexistence with man-made materials, such as plant life creeping along broken paving, and effervescing metals overcome by natures elements. My contemporary approach of combining fibre, yarn and thread with a variety of techniques, is used to create unusual and highly tactile pieces". |
