I enjoy the textural qualities of the materials and process of Feltmaking using English and Merino wool fleece. My designs are made by colour mixing and layering dyed fibres. Which are then hand milled to create an image embedded in felted fabric. Working in a 'painterly' way the combination of idea and technique takes on a characteristic 'life of it's own'.

My inspiration comes from garden or wild flora and my work reflects patterns of growth, the colour and vitality of plant life. I often draw this in pastels to observe form and detail, later working out compositions and tones in small pencil sketches. The finished Feltworks are decorative framed pictures or wall hangings. Their colours are enhanced in good light, which will not damage the dyes. I am a member of Bucks Visual Images Group and the international Feltmakers Association.
