Deborah Hopson Wolpe
Deborah Hopson Wolpe is a local potter specialising in making fine stoneware and porcelain bowls and jugs. These are decorated with carved, stamped or coloured slip inscriptions and patterns. She is influenced by the Japanese economy of line and form, archaeological pots of the Minoan and Roman civilisations, sixteenth century italic, music and the European traditions of folk art. Deborah constantly experiments with different materials in clay and glazes; looking for lightness, strength, strong colour and smooth lustrous surfaces. |
